closing time

I still like my memories of this place
and my mum's language and
I will miss my parent's face
and the rivers, fields, the fragrance of April and May
when everything is getting green and fresh,
leaves are sparkles on Sun's almost white rays
but after these three months,
I need to leave again
just one more week
just a couple of days
and I will be disappeared from Hungary
where a freely voted post-fascist regime
dominate everything from schools to churches
this is the most corrupt place in Europe
in this cage, corruption is not an anomaly
it is not an exception or irregularity
it is the central part of the culture
and not only Orban's oligarchs are corrupt
the majority of society is similar
nepotism and clientelism are accepted
political corruption is common-or-garden
the state's propaganda is homophobic and racist
because these kinds of disgusting attitudes are popular
you can't believe this, okay
if you are gay,
try to walk hand-in-hand with your partner in any city here
Can't you believe this
if you have a partner with a darker skin colour
try to relocate to the countryside here
Good luck
You might be lucky
In this country, the central part of the press and media
roar Russian propaganda
This political system
could be the best example of modern kleptocracy
the main part of art, education
police, prosecutors, clerics or the health system are corrupt, too
the corruption here is not a simple bribery
Oh, no, that is not the case
the corruption here is the structure itself
the corruption here is the way how the majority think
it is a deep tradition
and there is no alternative
there is no fresh air
there is no hope for change
there is no real opposition
the only exception is a tiny joke party
of course, there are millions of excellent and open-minded people here,
there are a lot of warm-hearted folks, too
undoubtedly, not everyone is corrupt
definitely, there are a lot of lovely, wise persons
but they are the minority
always were a minority
so there is no tradition of democracy and transparency
and plenty of this minority have already escaped
so, yes, I know
Budapest's central part is still beautiful
the Danube is a magical river
Dobogókő and Normafa are stunning
there are lovely forests and hills in Mátra
but sadly, I have no choice
Just want to leave
I want to breath
one more week
I will fly away
I never come back again
but a wee part of my heart remains here
and never stops hoping
